Question 1. Do you believe there were any policies President Hoover could have put in place that would have prevented the widespread economic damage caused by the 1929 stock market crash?

Answer: Herbert Hoover’s dogmatic loyalty to small government and his intervening activities in the economy during the 1929 stock market crash are major causes behind the historical great depression. One of the major consequences of the stock market crash was the widespread unemployment because investors were taking money out of the market in fear of losses. This could have been prevented by president Hoover by taking trade-friendly policies that would promote and support trades and discourage savings. Increased taxes on savings and large income could have been imposed to discourage people saving money. Hoover could use appropriate federal reserve policy to keep the money supply in the market constant despite the recession caused by stock market crash. It is obvious that the wrong monetary policy regarding the federal reserve has caused money shrinkage and led to great depression.

Question 2. Would you argue women became bolder as a result of their participation on the home front or did this come earlier and why?

Answer: Obviously, women became bolder because of their participation in the home front as it confronted them with challenges and difficulties in the absence of their male guardians and protectors. The change in the role of women has made them bold, attentive, careful and aware of the situations. Millions of women mobilized and took part in the war training to help to protect their countries. The mobilization has effected the mindset of women who started confiding on themselves and later they started participating in desk job, office job and field job at large. They left hometown to move to urban areas in search of new job and improved life. They were exhibiting different outlooks about life and continuing improved vision towards life. Participation in home front has made women believe in their own capacity and helped them enjoy true freedom of mind.
